A sonnet in praise of friendship
When you write a song of love
About one you've known for years
You cannot sound all lovey dove
Or it will end in tears
A lifetime of dependable
Forever being strong
Remaining constant and convivial
Safe harbour all lifelong
How can I sum up in words
All that you have been
My guide through every hazard
Since I was just nineteen
Best friend and co conspirator
Fellow traveller and adventurer
